What is Amatsu?

Amatsu is an exceptional, full body treatment suitable for all ages and beneficial for a wide range of painful problems and ill-health. Inspired by the teachings of Dr Hatsumi In Japan, and further developed by Western teachers, Amatsu is soundly based on scientific principles of anatomy, physiology, natural body movement, bio-tensegrity, and proprioception.

"The human being is the only creature that needs to be taught to move naturally." Dr Masaaki Hatsumi

Amatsu is a modern adaptation of a soft tissue therapy that has been used for thousands of years in Japan. It is based on ancient principles of natural movement and can be used to help many musculo-skeletal and lifestyle related conditions, as well as supporting the restoration of general health and well being. Using unique soft tissue pressure and mobilisation techniques to treat the whole body, not just the symptoms, it also addresses the effects of life’s daily stresses on the body. Unlike many other therapies, it is a whole body treatment that works with the body's soft tissue (eg muscles, tendons, fascia, ligaments and organs) to help to re-balance other key mechanical and energetic structures (eg the spine, bones, joints, cranium and meridian circuits).

What does Amatsu Treat?

Amatsu takes a holistic approach, addressing the following levels of the body:

  • Physical: Structural pain (muscles and ligaments)
  • Emotional/Mental: Headaches and body tension
  •  Chemical: Food allergies, candida and toxins
  •  Electrical: The effects of positive and negative ions on our bodies

When these are in balance, the body is healthy. A loss of balance in any one area will result in change in the others.
